Outcome
In a hospital, air handling units run around the clock to keep indoor air quality, temperature and pressure stable in clinical spaces. Older belt-driven fans in AHUs bring belt wear, regular maintenance, lost efficiency and the risk of unplanned downtime. Retrofitting with Allvent EC plug fans replaces the old fan sections with direct-drive, electronically commutated fans. These deliver precise, variable airflow control and much lower energy use, and they remove belts and pulleys from the maintenance schedule altogether. Our team provided fan selection to match the existing AHU’s duty and dimensions, along with technical data and supply to support a smooth retrofit in an operating hospital. All units were supplied in line with Australian ventilation standards and NCC requirements. Images courtesy of St Stephen’s Hospital. Artist’s impressions are indicative only.
